The Crime Branch (CB) on Tuesday started a probe into the seizure of the huge quantity of snake venom in Bhubaneswar on March 27, 2021.

A team of the Crime Brach reached the city Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) office and sought more information regarding the case.

Snake venom worth Rs 1 crore had been seized from Saheed Nagar. Total 1.6 litre of venom was seized. The forest officials managed to arrest six persons, including a woman, involved in the racket.

The accused were nabbed when they were striking a deal for sale of the venom. However, the mastermind of the racket is still at large.

The SDJM Court in Bhubaneswar had rejected the bail petition of all the six accused persons who were arrested for their involvement in the seizure of the case and had sent them to the Jharpada jail.

An international link is suspected in the racket.
